In case you haven’t seen it, Flickr has a fantastic public group called People on Public Transit; it features — you guessed it — people riding public transit all around the world.

But illustrations of people on public transit can often capture even more than the photos.

New York-based artist Aurora Andrews was featured in Flavor Wire today for her talented  watercolors that exhibit how “tender moments in life can be captured with a combination of patience, skill, keen observation, and the application of color.”

Aurora’s artwork is a testament that in big cities like NYC, many of these tender moments take place on or around public transit. Take a look:
